My Windows ME system is constantly hanging. When I cntrl/alt/del, 99% of the time it shows "Sysdoc32 not responding." When I try to end that task, the system totally stops rsponding. What is Sysdoc32, why is this happening and how to I get rid of it?!!! (by the way I run Norton Systemworks)

Thanks...Dave

All versions of the Norton Utilities for Windows 9x/Me/NT/2000/XP come with a program called Norton System Doctor. The file name for Norton System Doctor is Sysdoc32.exe. If you encounter an error which refers to this file, include Norton System Doctor in your search parameters.

System Doctor is the utilities' monitoring component that tracks a system's hard drive integrity, anti-virus updates and other elements.

I would attempt to disable this or maybe look in the Norton's site for a fix to it.

This is one of the major reason's I do not use 3rd party proggies to automatically "fix" my computer. I will usually do it myself and consequently save myself a lot of headaches.

I hope you have NSW2001 because NSW2000 is not compatible with ME
I used to have the same trouble from time to time. I find it is best not to have System Doctor load at startup but to keep a shortcut on the desktop and just run it from time to time in order to use Windoctor and Disk Doctor occasionally and to let it do an Image daily.
If you have it running on the System Tray it does cause a few problems. (I never use the One Button checkup thing either)

System Doctor slows up your system very badly, hogs resources and causes conflicts if you use it at startup. Even as a diagnostic tool it's not great.

If you are running System works 2001 the only really useful tools in it are Windoctor, Diskdoctor and Speed Disk which can be run manually in that order for a good cleanout of the system now and again.
