After having numerous problems with my computer, such as occasional blue screens on startup, inability to shut down, messages of "xxxx has caused an error in <unknown>...", etc. etc. over the last year, I upgraded to NIS 2006 in January and things got worse. I followed Computing.Net's advice on how to run ME smoothly and nothing helped; the only way I was able to shut down the computer was to unplug the power cord!
I finally got rid of all Symantec security programs and installed somebody else's security software, and now my computer runs again like when I first got it, no hickups, no blue screens, no incessant messages of buffer overrun, etc.
Just thought it may be worthwile to post.

Absolutely agree. NIS 2006 is bad news for Win ME when run as Symantec suggests. It slows the system down to a virtual standstill. I would use only an anti-virus package and a simple firewall with ME, such as www.sygate.com free personal version. Should be no problems then.
