I need help! This computer came with Windows ME on it and I decided one day to put in WinXP on. When I turn the comp. on, WinXP runs. How do I switch over to WinME?

Did you install XP to a seperate partition??
If so XP should auto install boot loader, if you choose same partition it has overwritten ME!

UGHHHHH, I don't think it has overwritten ME, everything from the ME version is still on this computer. I've found it all but, I'm just scared I won't be able to remove the XP off of this. I think I did install it to the same partition though.

Go to start/settings/control panel/sytem/advanced/startup and recovery.

There you should find a menu for default operating system and a menu to change the boot order and the amount of time to show the options.

If you only have one system showing, you have overwritten the Millenium bootloader.

Hope that helps.

ugh..It turns out I did overwrite ME. I downloaded ME from a kazaa user incase this were to happen and it did and when I run setup, it says to restart using Win98 or Win95 and then run the Setup. But then it said I could also run it off of MS DOS? Sorry, but how do I do this?

Do you still have the original CD for your computer?

You can install ME after XP using a third party such as Partition Magic. It has a wizard which would walk you through setting up a new partion and installation of the Windows Millenium. This will create its own bootloader where you can choose the operating system without formatting.

If you do have the original CD, you should backup anything you need and partition with FDISK and format the drives and install ME first on C drive then XP on D. This will use the windows bootloader and everything will be nice and clean.

Your choice.
