1st I have some settings in my (*Windows*) config.ini Heres whats in my config.ini:

[don't load]
snd.cpl=no
joystick.cpl=no
midimap.drv=no

What do these do and what is the standard settings? How do I change them to that do i just retype (*snd.cpl=yes*) or do I just delete the line?

2nd I have a program loading from a swapfile at start up, the file has no uninstall program I have to manually delete it and remove it from the startup.

The program thats loading is: C:\Windows\Temp\TD_0026.DIR\HRVG1.0.exe
How do I delete it if it's loading from a the swap file and how do I remove it from startup without going into the registry?

Also I have a program loadqm.exe that I would like to remove from startup how would I go about doing that? I guess I might be a little unsure as how to use msconfig...

Again Thanks for help!!

CONTROL.ini, maybe?

Yes, either make it YES or delete the line.

Nothing loads from the swapfile at boot time. Why do you think this? And, when you "remove it from startup", what are you doing?

Start > Run > Msconfig > Startup Tab and UNselect the items you don't wish to load.

BTW I don't know what that program is, but I would be very suspicious that it is a virus, since it is loading from the temp folder.

Run a full virus scan with updated definitions.

As you might suspect, the listing is under
'dont load', so they are not loading!
Just leave them alone.

C:\Windows\Temp\TD_0026.DIR\HRVG1.0.exe

I would delete this entry from the Temp folder. Run your antivirus program and a spyware detection program to locate and delete foreign files.
--------------------------
loadqm.exe file is for MSN Messenger --
a statistic collector for Microsoft

This loads the MSN Query Manager.
This program gobbles up system resources and causes complaints of low System & User Resources or very slow, "crawling", PCs.

It is not needed for Msn Messenger, so locate and delete.

hope this helps
