SUWIN Error

i get a SUWIN error installing a clean boot of windows ME.. my HD is formatted... it says general protection error in the setupx.dll at 0003:9268
it happens around 11% of copying files
how can i fix this???

Chances are that you have bad RAM. I would suggest pricewatch.com and pick up some new memory for quite cheap.

I ran into this error recently while reinstalling WinME along with a few others.
In my case it was a conflict between the Western Digital Drive and the VIA chip set installed on FIC boards. I tried four different boards and three different WD drives. Solution: Switched to a Seagate as the primary drive. WD works find as a secondary drive. No more errors after switch.
VIA, FIC and WD all declare there is no problem. Go figure.
Bad ram is very possible. recently had a stick that checked out, and booted, but was the reason I was getting errors occational errors with Win98.
Also if you do not have enough ram. 64 megs is okay but ME works better with at least 128 mgs
