When I was reinstalling Windows ME in DOS, after it copied 61% of the system files to me computer, this showed up:
"SUWIN An error has occured in your application. If you choose Ignore, you should save your work in a new file."
Clicking "Ignore" makes it reappear. Clicking "Close" gave another error:
"Application Error SUWIN caused a General Protection Fault in module VERX.DLL at 0002:24AE"

IMHO the cause is, WinME detects pieces of software belonging to a later version. If you are trying to reinstal from scratch you can just rename both the windows folder and win.com to something else. Then WinMe won't notice the presence of a former installation and allow you to install from the WinMe CD (at any rate, this method has never failed me). To change the names you can boot from an emergency (ERD) disk or an old DOS disk.
