Suddenly, without warning, my sound card delivers nothing more than a continuous series of beeps...I've had it since before I upgraded to ME, and for that matter, it worked fine for months, until it began acting up. I've tried changing the drivers, to no avail. Removing the card under control panel, and reinstalling, even removing it physically...I'm at a loss. Any ideas?
It's a DCS S711, that the computer recognizes as an ESS es1869...I'm running a AMD K6 clocked at about 475, although, again, it's been that way for months...

hello
if it still made the beeps when sound card was removed .its not your sound card.
what pattern are the beeps long beeps short beeps combanations of the two.its your bois giveing an error mesage to a problem.
continuse short beeps could be bad memory like ram. check at your computer makers web sight and see if they have a list of these error codes and fined the one that matches yours. what else works on your computer?
you say your over clocking?i take it that you have a heat sink fan on cpu is it running?is it tight?try takeing fan and heat sink off cpu and see if theres any discoloration.
have a nice day
