Hi Walter!
First of all - Thanks for your lifesaver on http://mywebpages.comcast.net/ I have been literally following all your posts from one forum to another on this subject.
My problem is when I try to burn the files and folders (containing modified precopy1.cab) as a 'data disk' (using sonic burner), it is not recognised as a 'bootable disk'. Do you know of a way I can workaround this.
My computer is down for the last one month and I am really trying to get any help i can to bring it back to life (emailing from frnds machine). My original machine has no OS right now and i have the dell oem cd for ME. but i was able to fdisk and format my computer using another CD, if it helps. Thanks a lot
Rahul

RahulBhushan, with almost any burner I'm aware of, the default is to simply burn the data contained within a file. A file that has to be bootable has to have the '.S' attribute added in order to tell the burner to include the OS instructions. Take a look at your burner options to see if it isn't available.

The presence or absence of the system attribute has no affect on booting, and a file really can't be said to be bootable at all
You create a bootable disc from a bootable image or disk - it should be an option in your burning software, although I'm unfamiliar with 'Sonic'
(and who the heck is Walter?)
You are, once again, Microsoft's bitch

As jboy says"(and who the heck is Walter?)
Exactly what are you up to?
You can look at the below website.Did
you change motherboards or something?Your post seems a little in the grey area.

As it's guessing time, then perhaps poster is trying to convert a Windows OS CD from an upgrade to a full version.
