I have ME,IE and DSL. Every thing runs fine except for: a strange pause, like the pc is taking a nap. This happens about every 10/15 min. The pause last for about 25/45 sec. I can not excess anything during this pause. Does anyone else have or had this problem? Why is this happening. Thanks in advance.

are you talking about a pause while surfing. ie.your surfing along just fine and then all of a sudden a page hangs for 25 to 45 seconds? if so then its the dsl. My dsl connection's have always done this. northpoint/ameritech/ and now covad all do it. i have no idea what it is and all three companies tell me im crazy and that its impossible.

You are not crazy. I have pacbell, have had it for about 2 weeks. It pauses just like you say. Surfing along on ANY site, any time and just decides to rest. One click on a site, then another site, wait about from 10 to 30 seconds and they both come up??? Whats going on with this? I need help....Veronica

I've started experiencing this at a more frequent rate, initially it would only pause for a few secs now it's pausing for about 10 to 20 secs. I attribute it to my dsl is downloading at a faster rate than my refresh rate can keep up, I performed a DSL bandwidth and data transfer test and using an accelerator, my transfers are astoundingly fast... obviously my bus speed of my processor/motherboard can't keep up. Which, in a way, in not a bad thing.. my data is transferred remarkably fast.

Try specifying an IP address. Stopped all the pauses for me.
Follow this sequence of clicks:
Start|Settings|Control Panel|Network
then click on your tcp/ip network card and choose properties
Under tab IP address, choose 'specify an IP address' , and for IP address enter 192.168.0.1 and subnet mask 255.255.255.0
then under tab DNS configuration, choose 'disable DNS'

I used Win95,IE and ADSL. never have pause problem. Just switched to a PC with Win ME. Got this strange pause. the new pc has more memory, larger Harddrive. So I think the problem may be the OS, ie. Me. It's the same isp, so I don't think it's the isp.
