The graphics on my computer show up distorted and with lines through them. It's not all the graphics but seems to be mostly .jpg's. However when I try to edit any of my pictures in Photo Shop or any other editing program the pictures end up with all sorts of lines on them. The lines show up when the pic is printed as well. In addition when the pic is saved and taken to another computer the lines are still there. (This makes the computer pretty much usless considering I bought it to do graphics on it.)The problem also shows up in other programs including graphics on the web (MS IE)

I have alread gotten all the latest bios updates for my main board and driver updates for my video card. In fact I swapt out my video card for another (ATI RageXL) and the problem was the same.

The video card I'm ussing is: NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro

Mother board: Gigabyte GA-7ZM

And I'm running Windows ME

I'm not sure where the problem is here but I've tried everything I know. Any help would sure be appreciated.

If a different vid card didn't help, I wonder if you have a memory problem. Also, have you scanned for viruses? Next, download a memory or hardware diagnostics program. Since the images are being saved with the lines in them, it is not a display problem.

Hi Sean
What size are your pics? I don't mean file size ... I mean like are they 4 X 6 ... dimensional size. I had a problem like yours for awhile and finally figured out that if I reduced the size of them down to 4 X 6 or so the lines disappeared. It was almost as if they were too big to print as one unit and the lines were to break them up so you could piece them together like a puzzle later.
Try reducing the dimensional size of your pics and see what happens.

Thanks for the input all.
Eric,
I have scanned for viruses but my virus program is out of date so I am trying to download the latest virus defs then I'll scan again. I have also scanned the RAM with a diagnostic tools and no errors showed up. I'm inclined to think that the mem has something to do with it as well. COuld it have anything to do with the motherboard and the onboard chipset (which I have downloaded current updates for but it did not help)?

Miroslav Vadovic,
Yes the computer is les than 1 year old and I would love to just take it back and wash my hands of it however, unfortunately the company has since gone bankrupt and left us high and dry.

Any other thoughts?
