I had a Dell 8100 Dimension Desktop which I did not use and sold it to a friend with Windows Me installed (the original OS when I bought the Dell). This PC has a 40GB HD and 748MB Rambus RAM. When I was using this PC I had XP Home and was working perfectly (the Wim ME was also working perfectly).

My friend had someone install XP Pro for the fun of it and since the PC became very slow he asked me to re install back the Win ME. Since I had installed Win ME on this PC numerous times I said okay but I am now sorry.

Although I format the HD with the Win ME CD, I can’t get the PC to boot properly. I always get the BSOD but when I boot to safe mode all is fine. Is it possible that the XP Pro did something to the PC that I don’t now about it?

Thank you

Natively Windows ME likes up to 512 MB of RAM, any more and you will have to tweak some settings, so take a stick of 256 MB out and read through point number 6 in the following article...
