Stops formatting

Hi all, I had my computer wiped clean. After installing the ME cd I follow the prompts and it starts to format drive c:. It hangs up at 46% and the hard drive makes noise, goes nowhere.

It appears your notebook computer has bad sectors on the drive.
Your hard drive is failing.
You need to download the hard drive test software from HP website or hard drive manufacturers site.

Thanks for the reply. I also got the "Invalid media type reading drive C" when trying to manually format (after fdisk'ing again). So, do I consider the hard drive toast? (couldnt find hard drive software on the HP site).
