Comment:

I have been having trouble with my computer (WIN ME). Everytime on a startup, a couple of dialog boxes appear as below:
"stmgr has caused an error in SMGR.DLL
stmgr will now close"

"stmgr has caused an error in WINTRUST.DLL
stmgr will now close"

Consequence: my google toolbar, java and flash macromedia, etc. also seem to be disappear too though the programs are still there in my computer. I tried redownloading those programs, but the computer doesn't appear to be actually loading or doing anything concerning that. On top of that, it doesn't anymore read my flash memory card and most of the USB devices connected.

If anyone knows who to deal with these problems, please kindly advice me. I really have no idea how to deal with it anymore. Thank you so much!

noomai, SWAG, my guess would have to be a corrupted file. Think I would get rid of that one and replace it just 'cuz. May not help - don't see how it could hurt.

No. He means try replacing SMGR.DLL and WINTRUST.DLL by extracting new ones from your cab files.

MSKB A 129605 - HOW TO: Extract Original Compressed Windows Files

MSKB A 265371 - HOW TO: Extract and Replace a Protected File in Windows Me

SMGR.DLL goes in c:\windows\system and WINTRUST.DLL also goes in c:\windows\system

and like it says in the articles, either extract from c:\windows\options\install or c:\windows\options\cabs

msoe.dll is an Outlook Express library file and is associated with email functions in Outlook Express.

It has no relevance whatsoever to your problem.
