Dear PC experts,

Just encountered the following errors on a friend's personal computer after playing a lot of games on his PC (Pentium 4 with ME installed)

After performing a scandisk (did not proper shut down the OS previously, still can't), the "blue screen" appears with the following textbox;

VMM(12) + 00001A77
Error:OE:0028:C0280A77

Can some kind souls help to solve this error.
and possibly explain why this happens, is it because of playing too many games? This friend of mine has been playing non-stop ever since he got the PC few months ago...

Do Give me a mail at ntuforum@yahoo.com
if you know what's going on.
Buy you a cup of coffee. :)

I am getting this same error, I wasn't playing any games however. I had several programs up but I didn't actually experience any problems with any of them but when I rebooted suddenly I am getting this error. Since the previous message is 3 weeks old and there hasn't been a response yet I am assuming that it is a strange one that nobody knows anything about. Hopefully I will get lucky and someone will stumble upon these messages who does. Please email me if you know how to cure it, thanks.

See at: http://www.techadvice.com/w98/errors/2/er_00185.htm

Error Message "Vmm(12) 00004c3c at 0e:0028:c0283c3c" and possibly other VMM(12) errors with win(ME)

This error is most likely caused by a corrupt registry.

Resolution :

Click START, select Run and in the text box type scanregw.exe and click the OK button.

If you the computer asks to save the registry answer Yes.

When it is done reboot the computer.

Good luck

I'm having similar problem, only more tricky. I have Windows ME- my desktop wallpaper loads, as do the icons, but before all the programs finish loading or before the icons finish coming up, I get the blue screen with the error messagge VMM(12) + 00004C3C Error: OE : 0028 : C0283C3C.

As this error message comes up before I can access my start menu, I can't follow the information above.

I have tried starting up in Safe Mode so I can try to at least back up my files, but the mouse doesn't seem to work correctly in this mode.

I found that apparently, some file/program labeled msgsrv32 is possibly causing this problem.

Please help.

Had a customer today with 0e 0028:c0280a77, VMM(12). She is running ME. We tried booting into safe mode but she got another blue screen which stated 0e 0028:c022cd5f, VMM(12). Couldn't find anything on Google about the second one, but we booted up into DOS, went to C:\Windows\Command\ and ran scanreg /restore. System booted up fine!

I'm running ME and I am having the same problem as "Response #4". I'm getting the blue screen after my wallpaper loads and after the icons appear, but before the programs finish loading. Therefore, I am not able to access the Start menu. I don't know how to boot in DOS mode - is it F4 or something? Some quick help would be much appreciated!
