Startup disk problem

After failure to install Win XP, I wanted to get back to WinMe, but the startup disk does not start the computer "with CD ROM support", although its ok with Start the computer "without CD ROM support". In the former instance it just freezes after three four lines. The same startup disk works properly on other computers. I am able to FDISK and FORMAT the hard drive, but cannot install WinMe as the CD ROM support is not available. Interestingly I can even boot my computer with the WinMe CD rom, but after that the same problem arises. Please help

Akbar Hussainy, confused I guess. Do you have the ME CD? If you do, reinstall it and all should be well once more. When you tried to install XP, it likely got rid of ME so it's not surprising that you can't go there with recovery disks. So long as you have the ME CD, no sweat IMHO, if not ... HTH. Ed in Texas.
