Hi Folks, Lately I have been having start up delays. I switch it on and push the button but nothing for between 15 and 30 seconds. I'm using a cordless keyboard and mouse and have noticed that the slave unit light will not be illuminated during these 15 to 30secs. I changed it back to the old keyboard but the problem remains. I have also changed the battery and it's not that, all other functions run OK. Also if I power down and start up again immediately then it is no problem, however if I start it the next day then it occurs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a desktop Compaq Presario,Pent III, 40gb

Ian Henry, my SWAG, sounds like you have a bunch of stuff starting which causes delays. Everything lines up and gets dealt with in turn. My guess is that they fall in the 'run once' category which would explain why the delay occurs only if the machine has been turned off. You can edit what starts in your startup menu in control panel. Hi Ed in Texas, Thanks for your suggestion, and excuse the delay in replying. I'm sounding dumb here but how do I go about editing the startup menu in the control panel? Is it in BIOS?
