Hey!

Okay, it keeps freezing my computer. I have a standby button on my keyboard and I keep accidentally hitting it then it goes into standby and it won't come out or it does and then freezes immediately afterwards.

The little window has popped up asking if I wish to prevent my computer from going into standby mode any more...I hit yes but it still does...

So do you know of any way to COMPLETELY disable standby mode?

Oh, and as a little side-note if I uninstall my keyboard and restart my comp it'll re-install itself right?

cuz I have buttons on here that are for shortcuts and they won't work...when I go to keyboard settings the buttons are there but they're "grayed" in a sense because they are colored but not full color and yea...

Not sure if I can disable the button either if I can then maybe if I get my keyboard fully working then I can fix it like that and that'd fix my problem.

Go to Desktop\Properties\Screensaver..........
Power Settings at the bottom of the page.
In power settings disable Hibernation in tab at the top of the page.

Do you have the Standby set to Never on the Power\Properties page too?
I don't think the Standby has any connection to the keyboard but I'd set it to never and diable Hibernation.

Well it doesn't have any connection to the Keyboard but I have a button on my Keyboard and I keep pressing it on accident so it goes into standby. I'm thinking maybe I can turn it off if I get my properties in my Keyboard Manager to work and stuff.

My power settings are set to Never Hibernate and I just set my Monitor to Never.

So will uninstalling my Keyboard just re-install itself when I restart?

Hibernation and standby are two different things. Are you sure you disabled both in Control Panel--Power Management?

You can try disabling ACPI in cmos/bios setup.

Or if that doesn't work, try uninstalling the keyboard drivers as those extra button functions probably aren't native to ME and were provided by the computer or KB manufacturer.

Or just swap the keyboard with one that doesn't have the buttons.

Uh, All I see is Power Options and I don't see anything about Standby itself in there...

My buttons on my keyboard used to work...I'm just clarifying that if I uninstall it it will re-install itself--Can't do much without a keyboard...unless ur using on-screen keyboard but that thing SUCSK! Lol--

"You can try disabling ACPI in cmos/bios setup."

^Ok am I disabling the Standby with that (right?) and how do I access that?--BIOS is in startup...not sure how to access that.. I'm not sure about the Cmos--

Oh and I haven't tried the standby button since the window asking if I want to disable my comp from going into standby mode last popped up yet...for I have told it "yes" like 3 times in the last month...today being one of those times...I haven't hit the button since I hit it earlier...but I feel that if it didn't keep from standby before it won't do it this time and I haven't changed much on my comp soo yea...

Cmos and bios setup are the same thing when used in this context. Cmos is just the type of chip used to store the information. Typically you get into it from the posting screen by hitting F1, F2, F10, or DEL (depending on the motherboard or system manufacturer).

If you remove the keyboard from device manager and then reboot it will set up the same as it was before. If you remove the keyboard drivers or software through add/remove programs (assuming they show there) then ideally the keyboard should work but the extra buttons won't.

Personally I find those extra buttons annoying. It's not like I'm Captain Kirk. If I were you I'd just get a regular keyboard without the extra buttons.
