I have bought to the attension B/4 here at computing.net that when I do a search on .log files ,I noticed a 871K.B. .log file for each day I scan my system using Spybot S&D ! Someone responded tha I could use the setting to chose that the previous .log file be over written, instead of a new and seperate one for each day ? I have the freeware ver 1.2 of spybot and I have no option that I can locate to manipulate any settings ? Is this normal ,or did my download and installing of this app leave something out ,I also have clicked on the update buttom and it says no updates available at this time. There is no advance option ,and again no option for settings ? Along the left side my options are Search & Destroy, Recovery, Immunize, Update and Donations, when I chose any of these, once in that section ,no other option available ?
Thanks in Advance ,Nick

Hi Nick, hello everyone

The Settings option is only available in Advanced Mode.

Go to Start and Programs.

Go to Spybot Search & Destroy.

Select Spybot-S&D (advanced mode).

Now you see Settings in the menu on the left, click on it. A new menu will come up.

In the new menu click on Settings.

Scroll down in the right pane and you will see Log File Settings.

Best Regards,
Mesich

Thanks for your input, I followed your instructions and instead of opening the app with the desktop shortcut I went to Start\Programs\Spybot S&D and the only subtitle that came up was Spybot Search & Destroy(easy) ? There was no other choices ? What do ya think ?
Thanks Nick

Hi Nick, hello everyone

Sounds odd.

Try this location:
C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy

Click on SpybotSD.exe.

Does that open it in Advanced Mode?

Mesich

Hi Nick, hello everyone

Glad to hear it all worked out. Your findings are very interesting. Should provide help to others as well.

I think I will uninstall mine and see what the results are when I reinstall it.

Thanks for posting back with the results.

Best Regards,
Mesich

That was intentionally set up by Spybot so that when you go through the tutorial you'll know how to make the program actually work for you.
It makes sense in a weird sort of way really...
Ideally, it should get you to understand what the program does so that you can selsect the appropriate settings for yourself.
