Spasmodic freezing up

I run WINDOWS ME ,it freezes up every 10/15 secs for about 2/3 secs and overtime my clock looses time and when ever online, I think it causes me to get disconnected. I have defragged,scandisked,Norton win doctor, run anti virus (no virus) It appears to make the problem better just for awhile if i re-boot, I dont run a firewall.This happened 12mths ago also and i dont know what i did but it rectified itself up till now and it is driving me CRAZY!!!!!---------any ideas appreciated thnx Barbara

Barb, FIRST -- I regret informing you... computers NEVER work 100% correctly! Gotta-live w/ some "stuff". NOW... GET YOURSELF A FREWALL!!! I run Sygate Pro. It costs $40, & is worth every-penny-spent on it!!! (www.Sygate Technologies.com) My 1st computer was destroyed because I didn't use a firewall. YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE ALL THE ATTEMPTS TO BREAK-INTO YOUR COMPUTER!!! Is this your problem??? Dunno, but a darned-good place to start! Hope my advice helps! DAVE
