Ok. So, I have music on my computer that I listen to and I went on a trip and I came back and I tried to open a windows media file and it said something like "cannot play blah blah something with the speakers" so i figured it was something with the speakers. i plugged my ipod into them, it worked fine. i can't hear, see, or record anything onto my computer and it was fine before i went on my trip. i seriously need help. i went to microsoft website and you have to pay like 35 bucks to get help so i was like wow forget that...so please help. email me if you would like at bitesizebeeeen@yahoo.com
thank you.
Ben

the same situation happened to me that you described. i just unplugged everything from comp and then when i restarted comp everything came back. in the archives you can type in sound etc and find a lot of answers also. my printer would affect the sound etc on my comp so i had to always make sure i closed all windows before downloading new drivers etc. some one on this site will answer so just hang in there.

Have you looked in device manager .If it shows a yellow exclmation mark under these listings ,that usally indicates a driver problem ,a red x can be a harware failure .Sometimes chosing the remove option and rebooting ,your system will then prompt you to reinstall the harware and it may work again .Since you have multible probs , I would only do one item at a time trying to correct all of them at one time would be very hard on the system ! Also if these items where all working recently ,using the system restore utility ,see if you have a restore point available ,that was b/4 this prob started ! On the microphone ,once you get your sound working make sure its not muted in sound properties and then using the sound recorder utility, Start/Accessories/Entertaiment/Sound Recorder , open it and see if you can configure the mic thru that utility and get it detected ?

To use the System Restore Utility , go to Start /Programs/Accessories/System Tools /System Restore ! When the utility opens it will show a calender with restore points available to chose from ,pick one that is B/4 you had these problems and then just follow the prompts ! If you have any other ?'s just refer to the help section on your PC ,it will walk you thru using system restore ,which was not avalible untill WindowsMe came out(WindowsXP also has System Restore) ,it save my rear a couple of times ! By default system restore will use up to 12% of your Hard Drive space for restore points ,I went to My Computer on my desktop ,right clicked on it,then chose properties ,then clicked on file system tab ,and then lowered the slider which adjust how much space this utility uses. Dont do that untill after you use it to try and fix your current problem ,because this will erase some of your older restore points !
Good Luck Nick
