I'm running a Dell Dimension 4300 with Windows ME currently installed. The soundcard is an AC'97 Intel. Any sound on the computer (system files, mp3's, wavs) all play fast, sounds like double time. There are no system conflicts, any ideas?

Sounds like ..he he.. either you have double clocked the whole system to speed it up or the sound card has gone bad. Normally the AC'97 cards (hope its not really the AC'97 on the system board) are low cost and easy to replace. I would take it out and make sure there is nothing shorting out any of the pins on the module on the card. While a double clock of the wave output could be a software problem it is more likely a failure in the chip some where with the circuit that divides the clock down into the sample play circuit.
You could try replacing the drivers, that would fix any software problem. If the Ac'97 is really on the system board, might be covered under warrenty, if not buy a low cost sound card to replace it.
