I have 2 partitions on one hard drive with Win Me and Xp. The sound is ok on Xp but on installing a driver for the soundcard on Win me I get the message "no soundcard or defective soundcard". How is it that the soundcard is ok on Xp? There is no onboard sound on the Pc. Mike T.

Mike T, SWAG, since it works in one and not the other, sounds to me like there must be some sort of discrepancy in the settings. Hit start>settings> control panel>audio devices and sounds in both and be sure they're identical. ??? HTH. Ed in Texas.
