Comment: i loaded soundblaster 5.1 on my system and get no sound. when i go into the device drivers, i have 2 entries that say creative SB live series WDM and wave device for voice modem. both say they are enabled and active. i have a gateway pc running windows me. what know issues are out there involving this software. i replaced the sound card with the new one and installed according to instructions. all the control info seems to be there, but no sound. also, has anyone had their shift key on a gateway computer go dead all of a sudden. i can't shift to make capital letters or signs like the at sign for emails. what's the deal.

Reply: (edit)trying going to the control panel: start>settings>control panel. then, look for 'sounds and multimedia' there should be a tab that says 'audio'. make sure your sound card is the one chosen from the drop down box and this is the thing your speakers are plugged into. and on the first window that pops up after clicking on 'sound...' in the control panel click 'advanced' and make sure none of the settings have been muted. or, if you have the speaker icon in the taskbar, double left-click it and see if anything is muted. if it is, just click the checked box to un-mute it. it never ceases to amaze me how easy it is to screw up sound in windows. good luck.
