Did your sound work befor you installed ME? Get either AIDA32 or Belarc to determine all the hardware components you have. If your motherboard has a built in sound card and there is a pci soundcard installed, you will need to disable the motherboard sound device in the bios to allow the soundcard to function.

Yes my sound worked before installing ME. I think I got a built in sound card as we had tried to install usb ports in the computer as the other ones I have do not work and there was no plugins my mother in law said nothing can be plugged into my computer. Where would I find either of the programs you were talking about?

Aida32 can be found at http://www.majorgeeks.com/download181.html/ or Belarc at http:/www.belarc.com/free_download.html Either program will give you the information ou need. If you have your installation cd that came with your computer, insert the cd and select browse. The drivers for the motherboard sound device should be listed for you to install.

OK I did that with Belarc and found no sound card listed. I believe mine is a built in sound card as there really are no slots to plug things in this is such a piece of crap old computer LMAO! Anyways I forget where I found it but I found it somewhere that my sound card is by crystal semiconductor. Someone else had me download a generic driver thing and when I did that and it went to find program for new hardware it could not find any drivers. Then instead of musi cplaying but hearing no sound media player told me no sound car or error with sound card so I did a system restore and am back to music playing but no sound ocming out.
