I have the hollywood hometheater 4.1 surround sound set, with a montego quadzilla sound card. My problem is, is that the sound to my subwoofer keeps shorting, I think it might be a power saving feature. But when it does this, the speakers make a loud noise, like static, for a brief moment. Does anyone know how to fix this or where I could find out?

Try to isolate the problem by putting the subwoofer not close to CPU or monitor. Subwoofers are frequently no magnetically shielded and does not have noise resistance.
GoodLuck!
