Sound Problem...pls Help MEE!!!!!!

I'm using Windows 98 and since a couple of weeks i'm experiencing a sound problem which makes me unavailable to hear any sound from my pc, i have had try EVERYTHING on the control panel and i know my sound card is ok because is was working properly a few weeks ago, all of the drivers are installed and loaded. BUT, what really confuse me is that sometimes the sound comes out and i can use all of the sound programs......pls help me!!

Click START, Programs, Accessories, Entertainment, Volume Control - make sure the volume is turned up. If this does not fix it, uninstall your sound card drivers, then download the latest drivers for your card and reinstall them. And also check to make sure your speaker wires have a good connection.
