i have an hp windows me monitor and im trying to fix the sound on a 8556c hp tower.
when you first hit the button to turn on comp it is loud and muffled. but when i try to hear the sound on media player aol etc it is real light and stattic. i looked on the
device manager and printed 15 pages of the stuff this windows 98 came with. it says it gas a master riptide pci audio device. i was wondering if i can uninstall that and go on hp web site and get a new one. if that would correct the problem. or if some one knows of a way to get the sound back on this 98 computer. the windows me is a small monitor with tiny speakers. so i thought maybe that is the problem. any help would be appreciated
