i have a hp keyboard that can controll the sound but all the sudden it cant anymore. Any one know whats wrong and know how to fix this problem?

Have you disabled any startup items in msconfig?
If so enable them one by one until you figure out which one controls keyboard sound (hidserv?) and then go back and uncheck the ones that did not help get your sound control back.

Summary: I'm sure you've been through all of this with HP... but when you put in an audio cd, does anything pop up to play it? Does it autorun? If it is Media Player that comes up, make sure nothing is muted....
