Comment: My sound went out once and I was able to reinstall the driver and it was fixed but, once agian, I have no sound and everytime I run E-Z Audit it says that I have no sound card. I have reinstalled PCI audio driver and it detected new hardware. It even ha sthe mixer in the tray. In my task manager it says I running SYSTRAY but I don't see the speaker in the tray. I have tried going to control panel>Sound settings and adding it to the tray but that option is grayed out. I have tried everyting other websites told me to try but I get no results. LIL Dice

Reply: (edit)DDice502, SWAG, can't recall exactly where to look, take a look at your sound settings and be sure nothing's muted. Far as the speaker icon in your systray, seems I recall there being an option for that in startup settings? Suspect you're on the right track, just not there yet. HTH. Ed in Texas.

Reply: (edit) If you have or have a friend that hs another set of speakers you can try ,this will help you eliminate the speakers as being the piece of hardware causing the problem! Also what does it report in device manager ,a yellow exclamation mark may indicate that the driver may have become corrupted or the need to reinstall the driver ,a red X can indicate that the sound card itself is failing and may replacement !Also if you have'nt already done so ,check you sound properties and make sure the sound card is selected as the preferred device or sound playback ,recording etc. You can find new PCI sound cards that are very affordable as a last resort and a fast fix ! Take Care Nick
