My volume control icon is gone. I have went into device manager and next to sound, video & game controls there are no x's or !. I have SoundMax2intergrated. I uninstalled and restared to see if it would reinstall. I got a screen that said no sndvol32.cnt was found. When I go to search file in C&D it says no files found for sndvol32.cnt. I did have some problems with some of my devices and modem and compaq went in and corrected. Prior to this my volume was there and working fine, since this time I can get it back. Please help!! I have contacted compaq again and they seem dumb founded or at least the person I worked with that day. When I try to run hyperterm or confrence it is saying some of my dll's are not found. Such as msconf.dll. I did a file search on all of them it said were missing and those files are not found anywhere in C&D. PLEASE HELP!!!!

I did the same search on my system ( compaq Presario) and came up with the same results- none found. This is pretty elementary but if you go to Start\settings\controll panel\sounds& multimedia is there a check beside Show volumn contoll on taskbar?
