Smart Restore

Hi Folks.

Have a 'broken' Search Files and Folders function (LH panel is blank).

Packard Bell's "Smart Restore" function offers a "Windows SetUp" facility but gives no information on what it actually does!!

Could this be the answer to my problem and, if so, is it destructive in any way on my installed programs etc?

Any advice gratefully accepted.

Stuart, I'm not familiar with Packard Bell's "Smart Restore". I've used the restore function in ME and if they're the same thing, O.K. If not, I'd be leery. May just be a manufacturer wanting to add 'spin' by using a unique name?
start>programs>accessories?system tools>restore(or is it system restore?) should work.

Smart Restore is just a system to reinstall Windows from scratch - it's not like System Restore. You should get an option to do a destructive (complete format) or non-destructive (hopefully saves your data & settings) restore, but either way the objective is to restore your PC to its factory conditions.
