Comment:

Could anyone tell me how much space Windows ME takes up on a new or cleaned up system compared to the size of Windows 98se?

Since Windows is no longer offering updates for 98se I am thinking of changing to ME since I can get a good price on it rather than XP.

Thanks in advance, sprank

ME has SYSTEM RESTORE and this grows as you use the PC.
It can be turned or limited as to how much space it uses.

I believe MS has done a U turn and is now continuing to offer updates for 98 (or 98se) & ME for a few more years.

That's crap advice based on ignorant BS -- Look at response #1's Homepage link -- "How to run Windows ME well" If you want to make ME work you.

And if your in the market for a Windows OS then save a little more cash and get XP (preferably pro), by the time you've got the extra together they will probably have released XP "Reloaded", complete with service pack 2 and extra goodies.

WindowsME isn't the worse way to go. I've been runing ME for 3-4 years and I havn't had a problem I couldn't fix (minor, if not nothing, problems). Lots of people stare at me with big eyes when I tell them I like WinME but I think it's how you take care of it that i'll be ok with the user. BUT..WindowsXP is fun if you have the proper speed for it. They say that you can run it on a Processor that's 150Mhz (around) but it'll be SLOW. I say getting a Processor that's over 600Mhz and 256RAM. (My oppinion)
