SiS 5597/5598 Driver for Windows ME

The drivers i have were for windows 98 and will not work for ME. I keep getting a blue screen on restart when i change from 16 to 256 colors. Can anyone help me? Please!!!

The device manager in my PC said that Sis 5597/5598 is the most compatible driver for my video card. So I presumed that it meant either of the two, I can't find 5597. I was only able to find and download 5598, then I installed it, but when I changed the colors setting to 256 colors, my computer actually was not able to restart because of some windows error problem caused by the driver. and when it finally did open on safe mode, it says that there might be a compatability problem with the driver and the Vid card. I'm actually confused, it first said that it was the "most' compatible and now this...

The Windows 95 & 98 drivers for the SIS 5598 vga chip on my motherboard will not work with Windows ME. Is there a driver out there that will work with Windows ME?

My computer will only give me monochrome, and 16 bit colours. I want 256 or high colour 16 bit. The only way to do that is to get a new driver, but how do i know which driver is the right one to choose, I have upgraded from Windows 95 to Windows ME.

If you go to SiS's site, www.sis.com.tw, and go to the drivers section for 5598, there is a link to the 109 version of the Win95/98 driver.

Use that driver. It works!

DO NOT use the 113 driver. It WILL crash the system.
