I'm suffering with persistant hanging when shutting down my system. I have tried a few ideas recommended to me & others on previous posts, but still can't work out why my comp refuses to do a clean shutdown. It is driving me nuts! why 'o' why does it hate me so? Sometimes I get a black screen with no power off (If I push the power button, next time I start, I get scandisk).Other times I get a black screen with that green patchy band across it(I used to get 'that' on an older system when aol would crash). And sometimes I don't get that far and I find rundll in task manager. I am stumped, any ideas??? Thanks

Correction rundll32 is in task manager. I have tried most of what was at that link already, however it did give me a few ideas. I think my sygate firewall may be a cause, I recieve a kernal32 error if I don't shut it down manually. ks
