Shutdown and restart problem

Hi I recently got a new computer ( AMD 1.2athlon, S/B Live, gforce256. 256meg of ram ) and have had problems with shutting down and restarting. Sometimes it will do both and other times it will just sit at a black screen. - So i turn off computer manually or restart button. Is there a fix?

http://www.computing.net/windowsme/wwwboard/forum/13240.html These should solve your problem - particularly the 4 in 1 chipset patches at http://www.viatech.com/jsp/en/dr/driver.jsp Do them all anyway, and you can always re-enable things later to see which was causing the trouble. I've been through these with many systems myself. Mail me to say how you got on.
