I finally convinced my mom to get a Sony Vaio about two months ago, and I love it. Just recently, however, sometimes [ not all the time ] when you select shut down in Win ME and press okay, it will shut down and then restart... It is possible to just turn it off while windows is loading (which will not hurt the computer, and in my opinion it won't hurt the PC even inside windows, after doing it for three years every time with my old computer and nothing happened-- but that's another debate) but my mom beleives that this ruins the computer. She is one of those people who would return anything that doesn't completely meet her standards (she would return a jaguar she got for free if the cd player wasn't loud enough,) and she is going to return the computer if it cannot be 'fixed.' I don't want to do this, since I already installed 4 gigs of software on here. Can anybody help me??

Hi Jake:

Call your Mom, record the conversation and let her know you're recording it. It's the only way that you'll get to talk to your Grandmother.

I know this has nothing to do with your problem . . . and I apologize for that!

Best of Luck to You!

TimeRider, that was a cheap shot. And aimed at the incorrect person. Aim at me and take a better aim.

You're right Miro

It was a cheap shot . . . but everyone takes one now and again. I assure though my aim was true! And I'm sorry . . . some days I just can't help myself . . . chalk it up to the darker Angels of my nature. I'm going to bed now!

Good Luck to You!

why are you shutting the PC down anyway? so it will last 10 years rather than 5? i remember the pc i got 5 years ago with its 1.5 gig hardrive and its 133mhz. i think you can still use the paint program without it crashing and maybe card games :) point is leave it on! set it up to shut the monitor off and let it ride...Sony has a cool pc but im tired of sony and the stupid specialty disks and memory sticks. who knows what these guys are going come up with next. get yourself a dell or check out www.alienware.com.
