the Show Desktop icon in the QUick Launch bar does not work. what should i do. i have tried practically everything????????

Right click on it. Choose properties, make sure it says Show Desktop in the dialog box.
Other than that... ???

you could always just start hitting "windows key" and M to minimize everything :P
