i believe this prob began when i uninstalled ie5.5. i have tried some of the fixes suggested on this forum but still getting error. i boot to program manager and try system restore but shlwapi error occurs. have replaced shlwapi.dll but no help. get the error as soon as desktop appears even in safe mode. can someone help? also now that i have modified system.ini to load program manager how do i change back?
I recall someone who may have had the same problem who solved it by clicking on Start, Run... and typing in "regsvr32 shlwapi.dll" without the quotes and click ok.
to change system.ini back click start-run- type in msconfig-click ok-click system.ini tab-click the + next to boot and highlight the shell=progman.exe click edit and chane it to shell=Explorer.exe click apply and click ok-then reboot.
