My system is dual boot ME/XP on C:/D: respectively. My problem is with the ME half. I performed a Norton virus update 18th August, and it told me to restart my computer. Whilst booting up I got a message "You need to reinstall Windows" I clicked OK and was then told that SHLWAPI.DLL was missing from C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM As my system is dual-boot I went onto XP and extracted SHLWAPI.DLL from the cab file. On rebooting back to ME it now plays the fanfare jingle but hangs on BSOD. CTRL-ALT-DEL shows 3 programs running Nprotect Mdn Csinject
Thinking that the problem was Nprotect, I renamed it but PC still hangs. Any ideas what to try next? Can I edit the ME start-up from the XP half of the system?
Hello Ted No, Safe Mode is exactly the same, I get the Windows ME splash screen, then a black screen, then blue screen and the fanfare jingle.... nothing else As I said above:- CTRL-ALT-DEL shows 3 programs running Nprotect Mdn Csinject
