Hi I keep getting a "SHELL32.DLL" error whenever I bootup my PC. After I click on close, the machine stops booting. The desktop does not load and on viewing task manager, there are no tasks loaded at all. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks Vik

SHELL32.DLL is the file which contains icons, bmps and images used by windows etc. Your .DLL file sounds corrupt. Get a mates SHELL32.DLL on a floppy or reinstall windows Shell32 is located in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SHELL32.DLL
My friend just had the same problem. Just reinstall windows. solves the problem.

ok....I am getting the same thing on my laptop. HOW do I reinstall windows??? Or how do I get shell32.dll on a floppy? I have a desk top as well that I can get it from, but no clue how... HELP ME PLEASE!!! Thanks! Stephanie :o)

Shell32.dll has ruined my Explorer as well! I can't click on the START MENU. That is my problem!
I can't get to my start menu, so is it possible for me to copy Shell32.dll from my brother's computer (THIS CURRENT ONE, which has WindowsXp, and mine has Windows 98 ME).
