Hi, I tried to dual boot WinME and WinNT.
I formatted last 1GB as FAT 16 LBA by using Partition Manager. The computer restarted with this message "Booting from HD1/1" and it stuck there. No OS was loaded.
Did anyone encouter this problem before?

As a result, I restored my computer with the original partition, but I can't share drives/folders now. I can see other people's files, but others can't see mine.
Any solutions?

Another question, how do you guys dual boot WinME and WinNT? I tried to install WinNT in the 2nd primary partition with about 1GB hard drive. After I installed it and reboot, it said "missing OS". When I check the partiton, WinNT drive was formatted as FAT32. That is not right. I formatted as FAT16. Does WinNT's FAT installation default into FAT32? Any solutions?
I only have WinNT 4.0 CD. WinME came with the restore CDs. Should I install NT first, then ME? But I don't have WinME CD? Will restore CD do, or will it just erase all the partitions?

Thanks a million.

Microsoft Knowledgebase:

How to Dual Boot Windows 98 and Windows NT 4.0 with FAT16 or NTFS Volumes (Q243896)

With the instructions treat ME as if it were Windows 98. Install it first.

From the above article:

Quote:
For Windows 98 to coexist with Windows NT 4.0 on a large NTFS partition, a small FAT active partition must exist at the beginning of the drive. Currently, FAT16 using the 32-KB cluster size is the only common file system that both operating systems can address from Power On Self-Test (POST). Therefore, making a FAT drive C partition that is 2 GB in size or less, ensures the proper cluster size is used.

If the active partition is NTFS or large FAT16 using the 64-KB cluster size, Windows 98 does not boot because these file systems are not accessible to the boot code that Windows 98 uses. Likewise, if the active partition is FAT32, Windows NT does not boot.

Follow the instructions in the article to set up a dual boot between ME and NT 4 with a FAT32 partition and an NTFS or FAT16 partition... your choice.

Actually... after reading through that article... you are going to install Winnt minimally first.

Hrmmm... didn't know that.

Thanks! I like learning something new.
