I installed what i thought to be the correct driver for my monitor. So i was told on this post: http://computing.net/hardware/wwwboard/forum/42251.html

but i turn on my computer and it wont even start up it goes to the compaq screen > windows me screen> then it says "out of range" i cant even get on my computer to change the driver. anyone know what to do?

Very timely - considering that the original post is from March, there's a good chance no one is monitoring it (I know I wouldn't be)

The "out of range" message isn't necessarily an indication of the wrong driver - try starting in Safe Mode and see if you can set the adapter frequency to default (or lower) values:

Display properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> Adapter -> Refresh rate

Something everyone should know:

OK, as the computer starts, just after the BIOS counts the memory, you'll see "Starting Windows... " you begin to tap the F8 key for the Windows Startup menu

It's 'time sensitive' so if you don't get the menu, and the ME screen loads... it didn't work
