Hi, i just installed windows ME, and having a problem with the secondary IDE Controller. When i looked under device manager, on the secondary ide controller, a yellow circle with an exclamation mark. The Primary doesn't have that. I have the abit kt7-raid motherboard. I put the ata66 30 gig drive on the primary ide, as master, and the cd-rom on the secondary ide as master. No other devices are linked with those. I tried updating the bios, and that didn't work. It does that after installing the via 4in1 drivers, then my cd-rom disappears, and the exclamation mark comes up. Any ideas as to what is going on? Please help.

Simplest thing first - make sure secondary IDE port is enabled in BIOS or set to AUTO. If that is already enabled, then next go to Device Manager, and remove all entries under Hard Drive Controllers, and reboot. ME will reinstall those drivers. Last thing, do a search in the registry for NOIDE. It will be at this key if you have it HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\SERVICES\VXD\IOS Best of luck...Krystyna

Oops - forget to say to delete NOIDE if you find it in the registry. Krystyna
