Subject: Search funtion under Start Menu
OS: ME
CPU/Ram: N/A
Model/Manufacturer: Generic
Comment:
Under the start menu--the search function does not work--Under My computer or elsewhere it works fine.
Per some google hints--re ran jscript, vbscript and urlmon dll's--still doesn't work (are they only for XP?)
Checked Tweek UI and search function is checked under desktop--What now?
Any suggestion from anyone?
It's not as if it doesn't work at all--I can search by going to MY Computer--but it is annoying.

What happens when you use it from the Start Menu? Have you tried a System Restore to a date before this started happening?

Life's more painless for the brainless.

When I click on search from the start menu --nothing happens
And my system restore does not work--When I last tried to use system restore it marks progress about 3/4 of the way and then stops. Don't know why.
Have another two computer running XP so I haven't tried to fix system restore on the ME computer.
Any ideas about system restore failure?
Any ideas about the search failure?

You might have a virus or Windows ME might be corrupt so you might have to re-install ME.
