I have a problem with the search files and folders option. It will not launch.Start then Search brings up list of options as usual. All will launch except files and folders which for me is the most essential option.Screen freezes option does not launch after I highlight it.Anyone in the group come across this before ? Is there a fix ?

SlowRambler, SWAG, anytime I hear of things either happening slowly or not at all, my thoughts immediately go to some sort of nasty. Folks who write such critters think it's rare sport to foist such a difficulty on an unsuspecting victim. Thus, first thing I'd do is perform all the usual scans to see. Don't forget about a possible Trojan. May not help, but can't hurt.

Thanks Ed.I had already run McAfee/Lavasoft/Spybot with zero effect. It is an odd problem. All my other Start menus work (thank goodness) even the other options in Search.. only for files and folders will not launch. :-(( Can you suggest another route to the feature other than hitting Start/Search ?

I didn't even know it was there. LOL

I always go to the drive/directory I want to search and press F3.

If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.

I hang my head in shame Mechanix2go.A simple keyboard command. Bingo!! I can search for my files and folders to my hearts content. Thanks for pointing the way.I am off to dig out my old DOS manual with all the keyboard commands in it and read it standing in the corner with my dunces cap on. Once again thanks to you for the posting (and Ed earlier)
