I had to reformat my hard drive yesterday with the Compaq recovery disks. I have done this before and when everything was done my screen is off to the left and not centered. The first time I was still under warranty and I called them and they had me reinstall some drivers from the D Drive. Of course, I did not write this down and again I have the same problem. Of course, for $59.95 they will help me again. Also, the PCI card driver was not found and my dvd player was not installed. It seems there are install drivers on the D drive and I can find the folder they are in because the icons for them are numbered but I can't remember how to install them. It seems they had me type in things in the run area from the start button last time to get things running correctly. Thank you for any help!

a few things to concider or try

do you have a mother board utility disc? i wouul reinstall my via chipset

do you have a vga driver cd? i would reintall the video graphics adapters.

check out your drivers in your device manager in system properties. i know you said ya arent sure where the drivers are in the d drive, but ive had some luck in guessing or doin a search for them.

guess im not much help but i think the vga drivers will atleast correct your video prob.

-Most monitors have the capability of remembering custom settings.
Check the user guide of your monitor to find out how to save
custom resolutions, this should fix the problem.

-If the previous didn't work, look for a better driver for your monitor. Search the monitor manufacturer home page or maybe www.driverguide.com . Also you can try changing the refresh rate in the display panel. This is done in control panel/system/device manager/monitor
driver/properties button. If any display gets screwed up to the point where you cant see the desktop just shut down and reboot into safe mode (F8 on boot up) change the driver/mode and reboot back to normal.

Also on your mointor:
-Push Auto key
-Adjust the centering controls
-Perform display reset
-Ensure display is in proper video mode
