Have some weird things going on. Have a 1.4 ghZ machine. 128 MB of RAM.

All of a sudden, I'm getting two strange errors. Attempting to execute an application I get: There is not enough memory to run this application.

Also, most recently, I came back to the machine after a time away, and there was a blank (black) screen. There was an item in the taskbar called "Screen Blanker"

My anti-virus files are up-to-date. Most recently installed and uninstalled the crappy new version of Morpheus.

Any ideas?

Thanks...

Morpheus is difficult to remove, are you sure you completely removed it? Someone mya come in that can give you a link, or just search this forum for Morpheus.
As for your RAM, 128 is not enough for ME, but works well with Cacheman which you can download at www.outertech.com

Ran the uninstall through Add/Remove programs, cleared out the Program Folder and deleted all the registry entries. What exactly is "Cacheman?"

Some people think it is a miracle cure.

Well, though it isn't a miracle cure, it certainly resolves several common issues related to inadequate RAM. The real miracle is if any one actually reads one of those three page solutions sometimes found in here. LOL

Hi Matilda,
I made no claims as to knowing some "Miracle Cure" (except perhaps for a contrite heart). There are some in here that have rather closed minds as far as seeing the value of any solutions other than their own. Me thinks perhaps they give themselves more credit than they are worth, though I will say this, I don't recall RM ever exibiting that behavior before. Thogh CacheMan is NOT a miracle cure, it certainly is a very good solution for those having problems due to lack of RAM. the most important aspect of it is, that it recovers memory that has been allocated to programs which are not using it. No matter what any one might tell you, the manual tweaks can't do that, and this is why the adverse comments reflect a lack of understanding on their parts. Funny thing is, if you set up CacheMan to show available RAM in the Tray, it is obvious that the program is accomplishing something that only someone who is bone-headed would attempt manually.
Give it a try, and if you can use any help setting it up, I will be glad to help.

Actually the strange thing is if you went any amount of time having only 128 MB of RAM, without numerous problems. I suffered with many problems (even with the tweaks) until I got CacheMan to "Recover" RAM. Now I have 512 MB and everything runs great. I still keep CacheMan running, because I like to be able to SEE what is going on, and even with the 512, at times I can see resources running down below 225, then Cacheman kicks in (autorun) and brings it back over 330.
Good luck

if you use cacheman on a computer with smaller than 256mb ram u end up having to reboot more often than normal... i tried it and the thing uses more resources than Ram booster why i have no idea but u keep getting the out of memory message more often than normal
