Hi,

I have this problem where a screen will be up for about 15-20 seconds when windows is nearly done booting. I am not talking about the splash screen, nor the desktop background, or the error one that says "return to active desktop". I think somebody was trying to be funny guy and put an obscene background that will last until I log onto the network, then it goes away. If anyone knows how to get rid of this, please reply.

Thx.

I would check to make sure desktop background is set to none. Then i would hit the appearance tab and set the scheme to windows standard. Restart and see if it shows up. Im curious. I would also like to know where the image& settings are for the wallpaper before logging in. Please post back with your results.

Then i would search for all .jpg's .gif's and .bmp's and any other image files you can think of. Hit view then thumbnails and see if you can locate it. Once you find it delete it.

This way even if you cant figure out what setting to change it wont show up because its not there.

Please post a follow up. Im interested in learning if a setting exists for enabling a login wallpaper.

Thanks.
Smuod:)

Thx. . .it was not the background, but the appearance that fixed it. . .who knows, I just think my WinMe is about to crap out. So, I cannot tell you if there is or is not a setting for a login screen. Soon I will reformat and clean install like xp or 2000. . .I am just wondering though, you've been frequenting this forum (i dont know about the others) quite often, are you due for an upgrade or are you just always that helpful? If I recall, I can remember you from last summer replying to peoples' concerns in this same Me forum.

Oh well

Thanks

I landed here just like you trying to fix something. Going thru the millions of posts i started getting addicted.

Im not an expert but i feel very comfortable inside the box and within windows me. Ive learned alot of useful information here from the smart people :).

Now i spend more than half my online time here. I havent been to a chat room in over a year. While im working on my website i keep computing.net loaded and hit the refresh button during breaks.

The term "get a life" is thrown around alot at my house. (directed towards me:) Thats when i turn the TV on......
