I have a Canon N1220U scanner. I use a third party software called Pagis to scan multiple documents into files. The software / scanner combination worked fine when I had my old computer with Windows 98. However, I got a new Pentium 4 "super machine" with Windows ME. Now half of the time I try to scan I get Stimon.exe not responding, and the scanner and program freeze. Is there anything any of you know that can remedy the situation?

yes... one thing can remedy it... it is "windows 98"
try to find windows ME driver for your scanner and check the windows ME compatibility of your software...also does not hurt to raise the hell with the computer tech support....
in the worst case you might need to replace the scanner or/and the software... but thats a small price to pay to have "windows ME Millenium Edition - the home version of the world's favorite software"
Regards Miro

I found new drivers and software that claims it is compatible with ME on this page:

Try downloading and installing the Twain driver and the newer software... after removing the old stuff.

Windows ME replaces many of the old slower 16-bit drivers/libraries etc with 32-bit versions.
The older scanners that are not compatible with WindowsME only have that status because their manufacturers no longer support the hardware with new drivers - they want you to buy new hardware I suppose.

I have the same scanner and had alittle problem with getting the twain driver to load.Once I did it has worked well. What DPI are you using to scan.Try a lower resolution.
