I bought a Micortek Scanmaker 4600 to work with my PIII866/385SDRam/WinMe system recently. The scanner described as true 42-bit color input and output, but each time I scan and save the color image,it is only at 24-bit. My local distributor initially explained that it depend on support from image editing software. However, I am not convinced as the specification claimed that the scanner is true 42-bit and never qualify requirement of software support. I told them that I made a trial test on HP4300C which specified as 36-bit color and I got a 36-bit output with the same scan and save procedure. I am so disappointed with my local distributor for not able to explain further or provide a solution. Can you help?
The image editing softwares I am using are Adobe photo element and Adobe photo deluxe. For your info, I do not import the image directly into any editing software during scanning.
